Fabrication of Capillary Fiber with Annular Light Waveguide Layer and Numerical Simulation of Particle Deposition Process
An annular waveguide core capillary fiber is designed and long lengths (> 200 m) of this kind of capillary fiber are fabricated by MCVD technique and a custom-made fiber drawing tower. The refractive index profile and optical loss of this fiber are measured by refracted near-field
technique and by a standard cutback technique, respectively. According to suspended particle dynamics, thermophoretic deposition of small particles in MCVD process is numerically simulated by a finite element method. In addition, the temperature and velocity field distribution inside the substrate
tube under various parameters during perform fabrication is also given.
