Development of Wireless Mobile Video Surveillance on Windows Mobile Using DirectShow Technology
Video surveillance system, as an important part of the social security system, is the product of the combination of traditional video technology and modern communication technology. With the growing maturity of the computer technology, network and image processing and transmission, the Internet network video surveillance and wireless video surveillance systems have been rapid developed and widely used in the field of modern residential, traffic, transportation, transport, security and so on. In this paper, based on the embedded smart mobile devices based on Windows Mobile operating system, we design and implement a solution of a wireless mobile video surveillance. The monitoring system consists of the video capturing terminal and monitoring terminal. Video capturing terminal is responsible for video acquisition, encoding and sending based on the Windows Mobile operating system. The surveillance terminal is a high-performance server which is responsible for the reception of video data and playback. Video capturing terminal and surveillance terminal communicate in the WLAN via Wi-Fi. The use of DirectShow technology, video codec technology and the technology of real-time network transmission, the system completes the functions of video capturing, encoding, decoding and transmission. The test result shows that, when Windows Mobile smart phone as the video capturing terminal, PC as the terminal of receiving video data, using H.263 coding, based on the TCP protocol with the appropriate control strategy for the communication, the system can playback the video picture smoothly and the picture quality is basically satisfactory.
