Tests have been conducted to provide the information necessary to formulate a prediction method to compute the performance penalties due to icing on airfoils and rotors. Included in this effort was the testing of simulated ice shapes produced from castings and fabricated from epoxy, wood and brass. This paper presents parametric simulated ice test results from recently completed wind tunnel tests, and compares these results with those of other investigations. The comparisons show that properly designed simulated ice shapes can be used to represent ice on airfoil sections, with incremental lift, drag, and pitching moments matching those generated in icing wind tunnels.
