Abstract:
The Slovenian government faces extensive work in the public finance area, as in the long run it has to ensure a balanced budget. This is especially necessary to prepare for European Union (EU) membership. The country is well on course for membership. GDP growth has risen to around 3 per cent. Inflation and unemployment have fallen. Slovenia's aspirations to NATO membership should soon be achieved.
