	abstract = "The paper discusses the history of the Los Angeles sewer system including public health concerns that lead to the modern system of sewers now in place.<P></P>It includes a discussion of the history of sewer corrosion protection in Los Angeles, including weirs in the sewer, cast in place clay tiles, the development of T-Lock liner, and the use of resin based pipe.<P></P>It also includes the methods of rehabilitating small to medium diameter circular sewers, large dimension circular and non-round sewers that have been successfully employed in Los Angeles. This includes information and pictures of several successful projects. These include CIPP, slip lining, and grout supported corrosion resistant lining.<P></P>Current practice is to install plastic protected concrete, or corrosion resistant resin based pipe for large diameter sewers. A look to the future discusses how sewer pipe material can improve.",
