	abstract = "Mathematical process modeling is used extensively in research, plant design, optimization, training, and model-supported design of process control strategies. The IWA Task Group on Good Modelling Practice (GMP, &#60;ext-link ext-link-type="uri" xlink:href="https://iwa-gmp-tg.cemagref.fr/"&#62;https://iwa-gmp-tg.cemagref.fr/&#60;/ext-link&#62;) has analyzed current practice and experience (Hauduc <I>et al.</I>, 2009) and out of this evaluation developed a framework to deal with the use of activated sludge models in engineering practice. The objective of this framework is to make modeling more straightforward and systematic, especially for consultants and other practitioners. Ultimately, adoption of the good modeling practices proposed by the Task Group should produce tangible benefits which is the topic discussed in this paper.",
