City of Bakersfield (City) has recently completed construction of a one (1) MW solar photovoltaic system at their wastewater treatment plant no.3 (Plant 3). Design-Build delivery approach was used to construct this project. This paper discusses the implementation details of this highly successful project and highlights some of the important considerations for a cost-effective and streamlined project execution. Also discussed are funding sources such as California Solar Initiative (CSI) and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which were crucial in making this project economically viable.
