The purpose of this presentation is to discuss a cost–effective method to evaluate the risk of failure to prioritize pipes for inspection based on a risk assessment algorithm. This risk assessment algorithm utilizes pipe age, material, slope, and pipe length in its risk of failure determination. The algorithm could easily be adjusted to incorporate additional factors such as the installation date of a pipe liner, projected total daily wastewater volume conveyed, etc. The algorithm could be executed using a relational database management system such as Microsoft SQL or Microsoft Office Access.
