Abstract:

Models used in the engineering design of wastewater treatment plants to achieve low effluent requirements need to consider the relationship between maximum substrate removal rates and half saturation coefficients. This paper shows that half saturation coefficients for denitrification using methanol increase at increasing process rates, and two practical approaches are proposed to account for this phenomenon in design.
