Bubbly Creek: What Goes in Doesn't Always Come Out
The study aim is to identify the water quality and quantity entering Bubbly Creek during existing and future conditions from the combined sewer overflows. There is limited water quality data available from the historic overflows. The water quality and quantity data is needed for the period from 1950 to 2007 for a detailed evaluation of alternative Bubbly Creek restoration planning. The study involved modeling the combined sewer system tributary to Bubbly Creek using SWMM for the hydraulics and HSPF for the hydrology. There is an existing HSPF model that simulates the quantity of the overflows to Bubbly Creek, but does not allow the simulation of the pump station and gates at the overflow locations. The study was to produce a model that could simulate the existing operating conditions and allow the simulation of other operating conditions with future conditions after other projects are completed.
