The purpose of this poster presentation will be to present the challenges and lessons learned during the planning, design and construction of a failing sanitary sewer system located in a sensitive marine environment. The presentation will illustrate the process of evaluating alternatives and the myriad of challenges faced in implementing a preferred sewer replacement option. Municipalities facing replacement of conveyance systems in marine settings or other sensitive environments will benefit from this presentation of the critical permitting, political and construction challenges encountered.
