Abstract:

It is possible to cultivate aerobic granule in pilot scale SBR system to treat typical domestic sewage (COD 180-350 mg·L-1) by the means of high exchange ratio and feed loading control. The developed aerobic particles had an average diameter of 330 μm, SS 8.6 g·L-1, SVI 32 ml·g-1, OUR and SOUR 5.32 mg·min-1·L-1 and 0.67 mg·min-1·g-1, respectively. With development of aerobic granules, SBR system exhibited a very good operational performance, COD removal efficiency more than 95%, TN >80%, NH4+-N >99% and TP >90-95%, respectively. These data demonstrated that aerobic granule could provide a good effluent quality to meet strict discharge requirements.
