Abstract:

Selecting a solution to separate sanitary and storm sewers seems somewhat simple. Despite this, designers deal with difficult decisions, demonstrating daily that the “devil is in the details.” This paper reviews some of the sewer separation design challenges that engineers face through sharing design considerations and construction challenges for the recently completed 13,900,000 sewer separation project and three other separation projects currently under construction totaling 21,000,000 in Chicopee, MA.
