As a result of the upgrade program, virtually all of the plant's unit processes were improved or expanded. A major component of the facility improvements was selection and implementation of the AquaDiamond™ cloth filtration system for effluent filtration, as a key improvement to enable the WWTF to meet an effluent total phosphorus permit limit of 0.2 milligrams per liter (mg/L) up to a peak flow of 227 ML/D (60 mgd). The AquaDiamond™ filter also provides an avenue to further upgrade the plant to meet lower total phosphorus limits expected in the future. The AquaDiamond™ filter became operational in February 2008 and after more than 1 year of operation, the filter system has proven its ability to provide consistent effluent process performance. Over the year-plus of operation, the plant staff have also identified and resolved a number of operations and maintenance requirements that should result in improved installations of this system in the future.", pages = "2888-2896", url = "http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/wef/wefproc/2009/00002009/00000014/art00025", doi = "doi:10.2175/193864709793955078", keyword = "cloth filtration, phosphorus removal" }
