In the fall of 2008, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) was in the process of wrapping up federal Consent Decree negotiations for its 3B, 20+-year wet weather plan when the bottom fell out of the US economy. MSD knew that solid management principles with new visionary approaches would be the only hope of achieving regulatory compliance. This presentation will focus on the initiatives MSD has implemented over the past year to ensure success, including, embarking on a comprehensive contractor supplier capacity study, engaging new strategic partners and tightening up financial policies and processes.
