	abstract = "Water For People's schools work in Central America is framed by a formal, multi-organizational initiative called SWASH+--School Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, plus Community Impact. SWASH+ Central America program partners—Catholic Relief Services, CARE and Water For People— have identified a number of lessons learned during the initial phase of program implementation. Those lessons have been derived to establish best practices in school water, sanitation, and hygiene education in the region and guide future implementation for improved sustainability as programs are scaled up in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Challenges to be discussed include involvement of national and local governments, ownership and local “buy-in“, and selection of appropriate water and sanitation technologies.",
