Hillsborough County Water Resource Services (HCWRS) has recently completed their asset management program implementation to manage their 1 billion dollars worth of assets. They are beginning to use their asset management system to assist with making decisions on operations & maintenance, renewal and replacement, and capital planning. However, they have discovered that the decisions can only as good as the data they are based upon. Although an inventory and condition assessment was performed for a majority of their assets, some data came from old systems, is not correct, or may be missing. In addition, asset data changes at HCWRS on a monthly basis through projects. Because of these continuous changes and the need to make some corrections, HCWRS contracted with Malcolm Pirnie to assist in creating standard procedures and work flows to update their system. By having procedures the system will be updated consistently and provide valid data for decision making purposes.
