WIB Prevention Program Provides Innovative Solutions to Inadequate Sewer Capacity
The Water-in-Basement (WIB) Prevention Program is just one of several components of the WIB Response Program and is specifically designed to prevent the occurrence of building backups due to surcharged sewers where the mainline sewer capacity is not sufficient. These modifications are
performed at no cost to the property owner; however the property owner will be required to agree to the modifications and to allow reasonable and timely access to their facilities.
This program does not apply to those properties where the cause of the basement flooding is due to overland flow, lack of maintenance of the sewer lateral by the property owner, or mainline sewer maintenance issues. The program is intended to provide a focused and cost-effective alternative approach to addressing sewer backups into buildings through interior plumbing fixtures. The modifications to the private properties are intended to isolate the property from the surcharging public sewer.
