Looking to the Future – Reclaimed Water for Minnesota's Industries
Abstract:A study of the feasibility of using treated municipal wastewater as a water supply for Minnesota industries found that viable water reuse opportunities exist and can benefit Minnesota's industries, communities, and water resources. A review of water quality requirements and treatment needs and a cost analysis determined that reuse can be cost-competitive to traditional supplies for some applications. Stakeholder input identified the key issues to address to promote industrial water reuse in Minnesota: solve liability and risk concerns, provide and demonstrate economic incentives, and assure public acceptance.
