Abstract:
The retirement of long-time workers along with the low profile many utilities have in their communications have created the “perfect storm” when it comes to workforce recruitment. As experienced workers leave the industry, often the new talent is not there to take their place. Recognizing this reality, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP - an umbrella association comprised of several industry groups) formed the Recruitment Committee, which created the program H2Opportunity! to help utilities focus and strengthen their recruitment efforts. While this paper will touch on the various activities under the new initiative, the primary focus will be on the communications efforts, which serve as the thread weaving all of the pieces together and distinguish this program from many other utility recruitment efforts.Document Type: Research article
