Energy Future: How to Bridge the Gap Between Energy Innovations and Sustainability Using a Whole System Approach
Abstract:A whole system approach to energy that incorporates the available energy management options as well as future sustainability goals is necessary to bridge the gap between energy innovations and sustainability. Synergies between energy-rich feed streams and energy recovery processes can be used to maximize the recovery options, as wells to better manage the waste streams. A number of paths are available for bridging the current state of energy management and a future where sustainable solutions are implemented. Inclusion of process efficiency and optimization, creative energy solutions, and a fresh look at previously non-viable biosolids management means are some of these paths explored in this paper.
