The Media Uncovered – Understanding Them So They Can Understand You - I
Abstract:People who teach crisis response for a living say there are two kinds of organizations: Those that have had a crisis, and those that will have a crisis. The Metro Wastewater Reclamation District is the largest wastewater treatment organization in the Rocky Mountain West. It is also conveniently located just five miles north of central Denver, which has five TV stations, two daily newspapers, and an uncountable number of radio stations. The District operates at all times as though it is performing in a fishbowl for all to see. When large numbers of ducks were found dead at Metro's Central Treatment Plant in January 2007, Metro entered a period of media and public scrutiny unlike any it had encountered in a very long time.
