Integrating Risk-Based Renewal into a Capital Improvement Program
Abstract:The Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) is currently completing a master plan for the City's wastewater collection system (MWH and DWU, Comprehensive Wastewater Collection System Assessment, Collection System Master Plan, Draft June 29, 2007). The master plan is designed to:
Ensure collection system capacity and customer service
Meet need for sustainable renewal of collection system assets
Achieve regulatory compliance by reducing, if not eliminating, sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs)
This paper describes the DWU wastewater collection system master plan's risk-based prioritization and scheduling of the capital improvement program (CIP) to achieve the desired objectives.
