CORROSION FAILURE IN DEEP WASTEWATER TUNNELS: LESSONS AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract:Charleston Water System operates a deep inverted siphon tunnel system to collect and convey wastewater from the downtown peninsula across Charleston Harbor. This paper describes the considerations used in designing a replacement tunnel system for the original system constructed in the early 1970's.
