Abstract:

Many water/wastewater plants have made the transition to operating their plant via SCADA, automation, online operations manuals, CMMS, etc… This paper attempts to highlight the complexity of doing all of this in a five year period, while upgrading the entire treatment process at the Alexandria Sanitation Authority. This transition was successfully accomplished while using the same staff that was accustomed to manual operation, with little or no exposure to computers.
