This technical presentation (but in plain English) will provide information on sources and origins of compounds of emerging concerns to water and wastewater personnel, including operators, managers, environmentalists, and others interested in water-health and waterenvironment issues. This presentation will be based primarily on the Technical Practice Update ("White Paper") being finalized by WEF and the CEC Community of Practice, commonly known at "The Sources".

It will provide an introductory approach and review specific examples of endocrine disrupting compounds and where these originate, including many sources in our daily lives, along with what impacts these have on future related issues. Not all EDC's are from hormone and pharmaceutical sources, and industrial waste will be more closely scrutinized for impacts related to these compounds of concern. These chemical compounds are ubiquitous in modern life and all living organisms will or has had some exposure because of the widespread use of these compounds, and the longevity of previously discontinued chemicals. Existing and future analytical detection improvements also enable identification of these source compounds.
