This paper deals with the analysis, option development and implementation of an urban drainage improvement scheme recently completed in the town of Lewes, UK. Action was required to resolve problems of multiple unsatisfactory CSOs discharging to the local river as well as out-of-sewer flooding in the town itself. The UK regulatory framework is briefly discussed. The paper goes on to describe the hydraulic model history and updating, and the option development and analysis for the scheme. Both the positive and negative aspects of the implemented option are discussed and post-construction performance is reviewed.
