The Cincinnati Residuals Experience
Abstract:This paper discusses the development of a residuals management master plan for a 40 mgd ground water treatment plant owned and operated by the Greater Cincinnati Water Works. The purpose of the residuals management plan was to develop a long term beneficial use or disposal plan for the lime softening residuals generated by the treatment plant. The plan included an extensive search of beneficial use markets that could accept the residuals quantity generated by the plant. Long term disposal options were considered as well. An economic and non-economic analysis of both the beneficial use and disposal alternatives should that beneficial use could be very cost competitive with the various disposal options.
