Water Quality and Habitat Improvement at a Decommissioned Phosphate Fertilizer Facility
Abstract:As part of their long-term site restoration plan, ICI created within the former prefiltration pond a pond/wetland/upland wildlife habitat to benefit local species of birds, mammals, and plants, along with a myriad of other living creatures. The site already supported a wide range of flora and fauna, which has been enhanced by this restoration. The completed project now provides for selected areas adjacent to the pond/wetland to be open to the public for wildlife viewing and for educational and research purposes. This project is in keeping with ICI's vision of sustainability and environmental stewardship for this site.
