Abstract:

Industrial facilities can be faced with limited water supply and/ or effluent limits on the salt concentration. For these facilities it is worthwhile to review the steps to reduce the discharge flow and develop a master plan to achieve zero discharge eventually. This paper describes the sequential steps in such a study and presents an example of such a study in a petroleum refinery.
