Abstract:

UV disinfection systems are designed to provide a minimum UV dose for a given application, whether for secondary effluent discharge or for wastewater reclamation. Numerous UV projects proceed with little consideration of UV sleeve fouling, commonly assumed to be of negligible impact to delivered UV dose. Recent research at numerous wastewater treatment plants illustrates the potential design and operation pitfalls from not properly considering lamp sleeve fouling.
