ALPHA FACTOR TESTING AT A STEP FEED BNR PLANT
Abstract:Alpha factor testing was recently completed at the 30 MGD Arlington County, Virginia step-feed BNR water pollution control plant. This paper describes the testing procedures and equipment used during those tests. The testing is completed and results from this testing are being incorporated into a design for an upgrade to the aeration system and an expansion of the aeration tanks. The data collected during sampling provided the additional benefit of trending DO and OUR, which can be used for plant optimization. In addition to the case study results, this paper provides tips for optimizing plant operation during alpha factor testing.
