CLARIFIER PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND CONTROL
Abstract:Monitoring and controlling clarifier performance is critical for the successful operation of every wastewater treatment plant. The purpose of this presentation is to provide a brief overview of clarifier monitoring equipment and technologies most widely used in the practice today: from simple manual operation to complete automation of clarifier sludge collection and withdrawal, and control. The principal of operation, areas of application, advantages and disadvantages of optical, ultrasonic and nuclear analyzers for sludge concentration and density measurement are described. The benefits and applicability of sludge blanket level detectors are also discussed and advantages and disadvantages of manual and automated sludge blanket profiling and management are compared.
