	abstract = "BWI also has one of the oldest and more successful deicing runoff control programs in the nation. The Airport successfully addressed the dilemma of competing safety and environmental demands through a decade-long process of implementing relatively new technologies, intensive monitoring, annual assessment, and continuous refinement. To a large extent, this iterative process reflects the airport industry's evolving understanding of the technical issues and what does and doesn't work in implementing control technologies. The challenges that BWI and other airports faced, and continue to face in managing deicing runoff, and the details of BWI's efforts are the subjects of this presentation.",
