INVESTIGATION AND EXPERIENCE WITH WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND REUSE AT THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT RESEARCH CENTER OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO
Abstract:The Wastewater Treatment Research Center of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro has as mission to support the graduation and after-graduation courses of Water Resources, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering. It contains 15 different operation and process units, each one for attendance the population equivalent of up to 500 inhabitants. In WTRC-UFRJ they come being national lead projects applied to scientific and technological development of wastewater treatment and reuse, and amongst these it is the project “Agricultural Reuse of Treated Wastewater". This document describes on and presents results obtained until now with the following research projects: facultative stabilization pond, aerated pond, UASB Reactor, trickling filter and agricultural wastewater reuse.
