This paper describes the contribution of mathematical modeling throughout the upgrade period as well as the period following the process modifications at the Bridgeport WWTP. Data from a large pilot plant study were used to: calibrate the plant model; conduct a number of 'what if' scenarios
to improve the understanding of the full scale plant; simulate conditions that could not be tested with the pilot plant; aid operators during the transition period and serve as an operator planning and monitoring tool for future operations.
