Abstract:

32 MGD wastewater treatment plant trickling filter-activated sludge wastewater treatment plant produces excellent water quality. However, plant staff found that further process improvements are possible by proper selection of process parameters such as D.O. and SRT as well automating control of these parameters using commercially available software such as DOmaster and SRTmaster (Ekster and Associates Inc). Results showed that process optimization and automation reduces energy usage by 15%, polymer usage by 25% and improves process stability.
