Abstract:

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD or District) uses real time control to manage its sewer system, including a large storage tunnel. The control strategy for managing the tunnel includes the use of neural networks for forecasting inflows into the tunnel. The forecasts are based on measurements of rainfall and levels at points upstream in the collection system.
