Abstract:The Netherlands have long history in organizing its water management and defending the low-lying country against flooding by sea or rivers.
The paper comprises out of a brief description of the country and its present day's water management system. Than climate change scenario's for the country will be discussed as well as the challenges these changes pose for the water management system, followed by policy measures that are under execution or planned to cope with the future situation will be described.
