Abstract:

All municipalities are looking for ways to save money. One of the best, tried and true methods of saving money is to perform work quickly, correctly, and efficiently. Many utilities have implemented maintenance programs to provide work orders, which in turn urge staff to perform needed preventive maintenance. Many of these utilities and municipalities have also purchased expensive computer systems and networks to promote speedier communication, data manipulation, and perform process calculations. These same municipalities also use common software to view, edit, and amend facility drawings.

The movement toward computerized information increased the efficiency of many utilities / municipalities, but did not relate all of the information into one cohesive format. The computerized operation and maintenance (O&M) manual provides this cohesive format by packaging all operational information, maintenance information, drawings, plant permits, and plant history onto one server accessed by multiple PC workstations.
