Abstract:

Thousands of odorous chemicals (odorants) are associated with the urban environment. Each odorant possesses a unique odor signature (i.e., odor character or quality, odor threshold and chemical concentration, and potential risk to public health). This review paper develops an initial understanding of how volatile odorous chemicals and their relative concentrations are related to the total odor quality and human health.
