Abstract:This abstract draws from the author's ten years of experience performing environmental and safety audits in food and food ingredient manufacturing plants. The audience will learn how to approach and to perform the entire process and how to use auditing as an improvement, rather than a policing, tool. The important aspects of auditing in terms of implementing a sound program will also be discussed, as well as the applicability of auditing to water and wastewater utilities given new programs such as CMOM, and the relationship of auditing to other compliance initiatives such as Environmental Management Systems.
