Implementation of Feedforward Aeration Control Using On-Line Offgas Analysis: The Grafton WWTP Experience
Typical automated aeration control systems include control algorithms that use Dissolved Oxygen (DO) concentration levels in the aeration basin both as a control parameter and as an indirect indicator of process requirements. A new control system has been developed and tested that utilizes offgas analysis to determine real time process requirements and aeration system oxygen transfer performance. This allows implementation of a feedforward control algorithm to predict and control the air required to meet such process requirements. This system provides more precise and energy efficient control of the aeration system than conventional feedback control systems.
