Abstract:This paper will discuss the practical considerations that need to be addressed if you or your organization has an interest in implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) and potentially having the system certified and registered as full ISO 14001 compliant. The focus of the paper will be how to start the process by conducting a “gap” analysis, and the important assessment of management attitude that enters into the decision to institute an EMS or ISO 14001 system.
