THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ODOR COMPLAINTS AND AMBIENT ODOR MONITORING WHEN INVESTIGATING ODORS
Abstract:There are a variety of tools available to help the engineer or scientist who is investigating odors.Analysis of existing odor complaints and ambient odor monitoring are two of the tools that can be used to define the magnitude of an odor problem and determine how best to solve it. Based on discussions with engineers, municipal staffs and regulators, it appears that neither the role nor the importance of either tool is well understood. This paper addresses odor complaints and ambient odor monitoring and discusses the benefits of each when investigating odors.
