Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a research project on urban wet-weather flow controls funded by US EPA. The project focused on techniques that are suitable for evaluating and optimizing decentralized urban Best Management Practices (BMP) controls. Presented here are general approaches for conducting detailed spatial analysis, long-term precipitation data analysis, an explicit runoff routing model, and a prototype optimization model for functional land development strategies. The entire optimization decision support system (ODSS) is developed as a series of spreadsheet (SS) files.
