Abstract:

Plasma-Assisted Sludge Oxidation is a new method which promises economical reduction of sludge volume by a factor of 20, low operating costs, inert resultant products, a significant reduction of greenhouse gases, and ability to generate significant useful heat from the sludge. In this paper, the author describes the process and its applications, the theoretical chemical and physical basis for the process, a typical economic analysis, and the numerical modeling which is the basis for future scale-ups.
