Abstract:

On-site electrolytically generated hypochlorite is a low-cost, strong disinfectant and oxidizing agent with a broad spectrum of applications, and with minimal associated hazard. This type of generation has been in existence for more than 25 years but only in the last few years has it emerged as a recognized viable method to replace chlorine gas and high strength hypochlorite. This paper will discuss new manufacturing techniques that have proven to reduce raw material consumption and operating costs, simplify the process, and with equal or lower capital investment for this two decade old process.
