Positive images of the wastewater treatment professionals' organization do not just pop into the public's mind automatically. As a matter of fact, just by the nature of our business, most immediate images are negative rather than positive. No matter how well you meet your permits, no matter how honorable your intentions, if you don't intentionally build public trust, it won't just happen by magic. Credibility with your community matters when it comes to raising rates, during Board elections, if you have an occasional violation of a permit or when the public is critical of your budget, personnel, actions, etc. If your organization is deserving of being a community hero, here's your chance to learn five ways to market your organization so you can build that positive image and community credibility. Five ways to market your organization include using local radio ads, local newspaper ads, fleet advertising, bumper sticker advertising, and movie theatre ads. This presentation will discuss creative ways to develop messages, to utilize public service announcements, to negotiate reduced advertising costs, to seek advertising grants, and to share costs by creating partners with like goals.
