A CHLORINE SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUR OPERATORS
Abstract:The Chlorine Institute's safety training program for those who handle chlorine in a wastewater treatment uses as its basis for instruction a Chlorine Institute pamphlet and videotape that have been in existence since 1999 and 2000, respectively. Each of these products have been displayed at previous WEFTEC trade shows.
As the Institute's water industry safety outreach groups began discussing training requirements, Continuing Education Units for training, and available training programs, it was decided that Pamphlet 155, Water and Wastewater Operators Chlorine Handbook, and the videotape “Chlorine Safety for Water and Wastewater Operators” should be melded into a training program that could become a certifiable program for CEUs. Consultations with instructors in water and wastewater treatment technology helped us determine that the handbook and video contained excellent information and could be used as training if an instructional guidance, syllabus, and learning evaluation tool were developed.
The subsequent Chlorine Safety Training Instructor's Guidance package is the core of what I'd like to present to you, today.
